They are applying Open-source concepts with crowd sourcing to get the research out quickly in a collaborative environment.

Not that the original research was gov and/or foundation funded.

Earth Overshoot Day is Sept 27th each year.

Earth Overshoot Day is coming!:

Earth Overshoot Day is today, September 27th. Essentially, today, we have used up a years worth of the world's resource-generation capacity. Every day for the rest of the year takes us into deficit.

Or, stated differently, every year we are using 130%+ of the earths renewable resources. We deplete or exhaust resources in order to overconsume.

This is a cool version of the "Screw up Award" which sometimes even goes by a less attractive name.

A corporate culture kills off innovation if every time someone tries something new they get clobbered. You gotta be able to fail faster, in order to learn faster.
